The Moxa TCC-80 Industrial RS-232 to RS-422/485 Converter provides a simple, compact, and reliable way to convert RS-232 signals into RS-422 or RS-485 for extended serial communication. Designed for portability and ease of use, the TCC-80 requires no external power supply when connected to a host PC or serial device, drawing power directly from the RS-232 port lines. If handshake lines are unavailable or power requirements exceed available levels, an optional external 5–12 VDC supply or USB power cord can be used.
The TCC-80 supports both 2-wire half-duplex RS-485 and 4-wire full-duplex RS-422/485 conversion. Its Automatic Data Direction Control (ADDC) ensures seamless RS-485 communication by automatically managing transmit/receive switching, eliminating the need for extra programming or drivers. The device also provides automatic baudrate detection, simplifying installation and configuration across diverse systems.
To improve stability, the converter integrates selectable 120 Ω termination resistors and supports baud rates up to 115.2 kbps. A convenient LED port power indicator helps verify power availability during setup, reducing installation time.
With its lightweight yet rugged housing, the TCC-80 is suitable for desktop use or integration into control panels. For applications requiring galvanic isolation, the TCC-80I variant provides 2.5 kV isolation for added protection against ground loops and electrical surges.
